Barrier-breaking innovation: Parking Facilities elevates washroom standards with durable, sustainable upgrades
Parking Facilities, a leading specialist in Vehicular and Pedestrian Access Management, is renowned for its high-performance solutions such as sliding gates, bi-folding gates, swing gates, turnstiles, and barriers. Recognised as the gold standard within the industry, Parking Facilities prioritises innovation, durability and quality across their service offerings. To support the comfort and convenience of their staff and visitors, the company sought to upgrade their male washroom and changing facilities to align with their high standards of performance and sustainability.
The project involved the design and installation of modern, durable washrooms and changing facilities, which would withstand the heavy usage typical in such high-traffic environments. The key elements of the new facilities included water-resistant toilet cubicles, slip-resistant flooring, efficient water-saving fixtures and energy-efficient lighting systems.
Designing durable, high-traffic washrooms: Water-resistant cubicles, slip-resistant floors and energy-saving solutions
The washroom facilities were equipped with compact-grade laminate toilet cubicles, chosen for their exceptional durability and water resistance. These cubicles are impervious to moisture, ensuring they remain in peak condition even in a demanding, high-traffic environment. This not only contributes to the longevity of the washroom infrastructure but also reduces the frequency of maintenance and replacement costs.
Safety was a top priority, and the flooring selected was a UK-manufactured material with enhanced slip-resistant properties. It complies with current wet test guidelines, making it ideal for environments where water is frequently present. In addition to slip resistance, the flooring offers chemical resistance, providing long-term durability and safeguarding the area against cleaning agents or other chemicals commonly used in washroom maintenance.
A stainless steel wash trough was installed; fitted with non-concussive taps. These taps are specifically designed to automatically stop water flow after a set period of time, minimising water wastage and preventing flooding. This feature not only contributes to sustainability efforts but also ensures that the facility remains operational without unnecessary interruptions caused by water damage.
The facility was fitted with recessed LED lighting, which provides long-lasting, energy-efficient illumination. All lights are controlled by PIR (Passive Infrared) sensors, ensuring that lights are only activated when the space is in use. This smart lighting system reduces energy consumption, contributing to Parking Facilities' commitment to sustainability and lowering operational costs.
Parking Facilities has successfully enhanced its washrooms and changing facilities, aligning their infrastructure with their reputation for high-quality, efficient and sustainable solutions. The implementation of durable materials, energy-efficient systems and water-saving fixtures has positioned the facility as a benchmark for longevity and eco-conscious design in the industry.
